“ I was having a bad day at at my Chinese restaurant closest to my house. My wonton was terrible with thick skin and no meat. So I have to fix my craving by going Mission Hunan. Their combination wonton is full of wontons and veg. The portion is twice as big but the price is the same as my local restaurant. The Mongolian and kung Pao is not bad here. It is conveniently located close to bus stop and BART even though it is not close to my house, I would go to Mission Hunan. ”

“ Good food, quick service. Menu a little limited, specializes in the kung pao/Mongolian end of things. Quality ingredients, well cooked. Big hunks of fairly tender beef in the beef dishes; the seafood ones are a bit more subtle, and lightly flavored: the chili sauce on the table (or on the next table) is made for that. Serves rice plates all day, not just at lunch: this is a hearty amount of entree and a hearty amount of good steamed rice on the same plate. Exceedingly convenient location for me, a few steps from the 16th Street Mission BART station, which is where I usually transfer from BART to the bus, so I can always stop here when time is tight. It is, as anyone who's been around here knows, a more than colorful neighborhood, and occasionally there's the spectacle of the staff asking certain customers to pay when they order and the customers arguing about it. But none of this has ever interfered with me as another customer. ”

“ MY GO TO DINNER BEFORE DANCE CLASS: MY GO TO ITEM On Thursday nights after work sometimes I come here for dinner before hip hop dance class. I only come here when I don't eat a heavy lunch that day. There are items like beef with scrambled eggs over rice and tomato beef Hong Kong-style crispy noodles that I order once in a while. I've also ordered some dim sum items like pork shiumai and shrimp dumpling. I do have a go to item when I come here - Korean Chicken. When people go to eat at Chinese restaurants some have a specific breaded-deep fried item they crave for like sweet and sour pork, orange chicken, or General Tso's chicken. Unlike those items where you can generally find at other Chinese restaurants, you can't find this style of Korean Chicken at other Chinese eateries anywhere I can think off except only two places: Mission Hunan Restaurant in the Mission District and New Ming's in the Financial District. They happen to be in San Francisco. Is this specific type of Korean Chicken served at other Chinese eateries at other towns or cities like Oakland or San Jose? I can't of where this type of Korean Chicken is served except in San Francisco. Since I rarely can order this item when I go to other Chinese restaurants most of the time when I go to Mission Hunan Restaurant I order the Korean Chicken. There is something about this item. It's not meant to be ordered as a take-out because sauce might make the crispy breading soggy due to the transportation time. Therefore you HAVE to eat the Korean Chicken at Mission Hunan Restaurant. There is something intriguing about the Korean Chicken and that is due to the sauce, which is sweet but not garlicky. The sauce from my taste buds consists of soy sauce, garlic, cornstarch, and Sichuan red chili pepper. Also I think there might be a taste of brown sugar. There are other Asian eateries that have soy garlic sauce on fried chicken but the sauce on the Korean Chicken is tastier. Maybe eating Korean Chicken is not the best way to eat before a dance class, but I make sure when I go to Mission Hunan Restaurant to eat Korean Chicken it's usually two hours before dance class. ”
